Doral Meadows Park

HASE I-BASEBALL FIELDS AND PLAYGROUND
The recently formed City of Doral located within Dade County, Florida advertised for a Design/Build firm using the RLI “Request for Letter of Interest” for their new project, Doral Meadows Park Phase I.

The original park was built by Dade County and then deeded over to the City of Doral upon incorporation. The newly elected Commission campaigned on new and better parks for the community. The commission needed a firm with a proven track record that could perform under a tight time frame and produce a high quality product, that is why RDC was selected to Design Build one of the very first parks for the new City of Doral.

Doral Meadows Park is a 14-acre park containing two baseball fields and two soccer fields adjacent to an existing elementary school.

Unfortunately, the existing park was built on a reclaimed “muck” site. To make the fields playable, RDC demucked 5 feet of unusable soil and replaced it with a suitable material that will allow for drainage and stability of the new sports lighting, backstops, bleachers, dugouts, pathways, new playground and pathway lighting.

The City of Doral trusted RDC to convert the unusable site into a high quality facility in time for the 2006 baseball season.

PHASE II-FOOTBALL/ MULTIPURPOSE FIELDS
Upon completion of Phase I, the City of Doral entered into negotiations with RDC to amend the original contract and complete the second phase of the heavily used park.

Phase II includes two (2) “Sportexe” synthetic turf football/multipurpose fields to meet requirements of NFSHSA. The two “Sportexe” fields will have a custom designed irrigation system to cool the fields down in the heat of the Florida summer.

The completion of the 14 acres Doral Meadows Park allowed for Sun Shade covers over the bleachers at the baseball fields and football/multipurpose fields. Site amenities include scoreboards, bleachers, trash receptacles and benches with the City emblem placed on each one. A new 30′ park picnic pavilion was placed adjacent to the new playground, enhanced landscaping and irrigation are also included.

Doral Meadows Park features a 1,710 sf playground with sunshade structure and safety surfacing, baseball complex, (2) synthetic turf/football/multi-purpose fields, furnishings, irrigation, walkway lighting, new pavilion, landscaping and site amenities.
