Buccaneer Park
The City of Miami Gardens advertised for design-build services for its first group of new bond issue projects. Buccaneer Park was an old park that needed to be completely demolished. The park was situated in the heart of an underserved area of the city, and the residents had been waiting a long time for a new park. RDC was awarded the project after a highly competitive design-build bid process.
The new Buccaneer Park project includes a pool and a 4,125-sq.-ft. main building that houses restrooms, ticket booth, offices, community rooms, storage and expansive overhangs for shade. The Splash Pad is designed with the community’s needs in mind. Splash deck equipment and sanitation systems are state of the art complete with an automation system. Also included in the overall design are playgrounds for all ages with a shade cover, basketball courts, tennis courts, walking trail, park pavilions, parking lot, site utilities, landscaping, irrigation, site furnishings and site lighting.
