Miami Dade College Kendall Campus Competition Pool Renovation

The Miami Dade College Kendall Campus’ aquatic center features a completely renovated, 25-yard x 50-meter, Diamond Brite competition pool with eight deep-water lanes, a large shallow-water instructional area and the ability to accommodate water polo with the removal of lane lines and the placement of our two anti-water polo goals. Our state-of-the-art Colorado Time System gives us the ability to host both swimming and water polo competitions.

The facility also boasts a large 7-foot to 16-foot deep, Diamond Brite dive training well complete with two underground observation rooms with windows looking into both the competition pool and dive well. There are also two 1-meter spring boards, one 3-meter spring board, one 5-meter platform and one 10-meter platform.

The crystal-clear 500,915 gallons of water in the competition pool and the 301,136 gallons in the dive training well are both maintained via a state-of-the-art pump room featuring the latest filtration and chemical system managed by a networked BECS controller. The pump room also contains the most modern heaters and chillers to maintain ideal water temperature year-round.

The spacious, brushed concrete deck surrounding both pools contains three large bleacher areas, four deck showers at each end of the pool, one shower near the diving boards and three aquatic lifts to assist swimmers with disabilities to easily enter and exit the pool. There are remote-controlled lighting towers that provide illumination for nighttime activities and events. Men’s and women’s locker rooms, each containing over 100 lockers, 15 shower stalls, as well as multiple toilet stalls and sinks can be found at the entrance of the facility. The aquatic center and locker rooms are ADA compliant.
