Tupelo Aquatic Center Competition Pool
A Myrtha Pools’ swimming pool has been dedicated to Elvis Presley at the Tupelo Aquatic Center.
In the native city of Elvis Presley, Myrtha Pools recently designed and built two pools for the new indoor aquatic complex. The complex features a state-of-the-art Myrtha 50-meter by 25-yard competition pool as well as a Myrtha 25-yard recreation pool. The natatorium has the capacity to host 600 swimmers and seating for over 900 spectators.
The new aquatic center was built to replace the aging swimming facilities at the Rob Leake City Pool, which had infrastructure problems that made repairing the pool cost prohibitive. After consultants and architects designed the facility, the city leaders decided that the Myrtha technology was their best option. In its short history, the Tupelo Aquatics Center has already hosted two regional swim meets and one state meet, drawing swim teams from all over Mississippi.
The Aquatic Center’s 25-yard pool has been adopted and sponsored by the Elvis Presley Fan Club. Appropriately named the “Elvis Presley Teaching Pool”, it is used for learn-to-swim and fitness classes. Having the second pool, allows for different programming to be run simultaneously.
